Oil falls as US-Iran talks ease fears of renewed war escalation

May 20, 2026, 02:17 GMT+1

Oil prices fell on Tuesday while US Treasury yields climbed to their highest levels since 2007 and global stocks slipped as investors weighed conflicting signals from Washington over the future of the war with Iran.

Brent crude settled down 82 cents at $111.28 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate for June delivery fell 89 cents to $107.77 after signs of progress in US-Iran talks eased some fears of renewed disruption in the Middle East.
