US 'understands cost-benefit language' amid talks, Mokhber says

Jun 21, 2026, 00:25 GMT+1

Mohammad Mokhber, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council and former vice president, said on Saturday the United States better understands the language of economics and cost-benefit calculations, adding that Iran’s negotiators will not be satisfied unless commitments are fully implemented and national rights are secured.

"Americans understand the language of economics and cost-benefit better. When the agreement remains just on paper, the flow of Middle East energy will also come to a halt. Our negotiators will not be satisfied except with the full implementation of commitments and the fulfillment of the nation's rights. Although we neither forgive nor forget the blood of each and every martyr, the martyred Imam, and the children of Minab," he posted on X.

Iran resumes crude loading from Kharg Island after six-week pause

Jun 21, 2026, 00:00 GMT+1

Bloomberg reported on Saturday that Iran resumed loading crude oil from its Kharg Island export terminal after a break of about six weeks, following what it described as the lifting of a US Navy blockade on Iranian ports.

The report said Iran has been an early beneficiary of easing tensions with the United States after the signing of an interim peace deal, and has quickly restarted oil exports. It added that while some international shippers remain reluctant to transit the Strait of Hormuz amid safety concerns, Iran has moved about 20 million barrels of crude using tankers previously anchored near Chabahar.

Bloomberg also said that at least 20 tankers of various sizes remain anchored east of Kharg Island, suggesting Iran may have additional crude ready for export from the Persian Gulf.

Hardline figure opposes Switzerland talks without Lebanon ceasefire

Nezamoddin Mousavi, A hardline Iranian figure said on Saturday any travel by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi or other officials to Switzerland for meetings with US officials without a full ceasefire in Lebanon and an Israeli withdrawal would amount to effectively greenlighting violations of the agreement’s terms.

"I state explicitly: The travel of Mr. Araghchi or any other Iranian official to Switzerland and meeting with American officials without a complete ceasefire in Lebanon and the withdrawal of the Zionist regime amounts to giving a green light for the violation of all clauses of the agreement. Gentlemen! Setting aside all criticisms, at the very least, value your own signatures on the agreement!" he posted on X.
