US stocks jump after Iran ceasefire announcement

US stocks closed sharply higher on Wednesday after a last-minute two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran boosted investor sentiment.

All three major US stock indexes surged at the opening bell as investors welcomed the Pakistan-brokered deal, which resulted in a temporary suspension of the war.
