EU parliamentarian backs expulsion of Iranian diplomats

The chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defence voiced support for expelling Iranian diplomats from Europe in comments to Handelsblatt.

Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, a lawmaker from Germany’s Free Democratic Party, said she “supports the demand for the expulsion of Iranian diplomats and for decisive action against members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.”

Teimour Rahmani, an economics professor at the University of Tehran, said sanctions are unlikely to be lifted soon, keeping economic expansion subdued.

The recent inflation jump, Rahmani added, differs from past spikes and has set a record in terms of duration.
