Iran says US support for Israeli attacks rendered nuclear talks meaningless

Jun 14, 2025, 02:02 GMT+1

Iran’s Foreign Ministry says recent developments have effectively ended the possibility of continued diplomacy with the United States, blaming Washington for enabling Israel’s attack on Iranian territory.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Friday that Israel had "crossed all of our red lines" in its latest strike.

"The other side (the US) did something that made dialogue meaningless," he said. "You cannot claim to seek negotiations while at the same time coordinating efforts and allowing a genocidal regime to target Iran's territorial integrity."

Baghaei added that it was inconceivable that Israel could have launched such an attack without US approval. "Israel has long dreamed of dragging Western parties into deeper conflict. It seems this time it has again succeeded in disrupting the diplomatic process."

UN nuclear chief says Israeli attack hit highly enriched uranium

Jun 13, 2025, 23:01 GMT+1

International Atomic Energy Agency chief Raphael Grossi told the United Nations on Friday that an Israeli attack on Iran's Natanz nuclear facility destroyed an area where highly enriched uranium was produced.

"Above ground, part of the pilot fuel enrichment plant where Iran was producing uranium enriched up to 60% uranium-235 has been destroyed," Grossi said.

"Electricity infrastructure at the facility, an electrical substation, main electric power supply building, emergency power supply and backup generators have also been destroyed."

"There is no indication of a physical attack on the underground cascade hall containing part of the pilot fuel enrichment plant and the main fuel enrichment plant. However, the loss of power to the cascade may have damaged the centrifuges there."

"We unequivocally and forcefully condemn Israeli unlawful and terrorist military aggression against Iran," Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations Amir-Saeid Iravani said on Friday.

"Israel, the most loudest and violent regime in the world, committed these barbaric attacks with the full intelligence, operational and political backing of the United States government," he added.

“So far, 78 people, including senior military officials, have been martyred and over 320 other injured. The overwhelming majority of them (are) civilians, including women and children."

Iravani called for other countries to condemn Israel's campaign.

Netanyahu tells Iranians attacks pave way for 'freedom'

Jun 13, 2025, 21:19 GMT+1

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message addressed to the Iranian people on Friday that his country's attacks could pave the way for them to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

"The objective of Israel's military operation is to remove this threat, both the nuclear threat and the ballistic missile threat to Israel. And as we achieve our objectives, we're also clearing the path for you to achieve your objective, which is freedom."

"The time has come for you to unite around your flag and your historic legacy by standing up for your freedom from an evil and oppressive regime. "

"(Tehran) has never been weaker. This is your opportunity to stand up and let your voices be heard," Netanyahu added.

"Our fight is with our common enemy, a murderous regime that both oppresses you and impoverishes you brave people of Iran, your light will defeat the darkness. I'm with you. The people of Israel are with you."
