Iran’s roads and urban development minister said on Sunday that the country’s southern ports were on the front line of the war.

Speaking at a virtual parliament session, Farzaneh Sadegh also said Iran’s adversaries had sought to disrupt the transfer of goods into Iran.

“For the supply of basic and essential goods, planning was carried out so that the import and export process would not stop. Consultations have also been held with neighboring countries to increase the transport fleet,” the minister added.

Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed recent regional developments and diplomatic efforts to support security and stability in a phone call, Oman’s state news agency said on Sunday.

They also discussed measures to ensure freedom of maritime navigation and the flow of international trade.

The two leaders also reviewed cooperation and partnership between Oman and France, the agency said.

Iran restored production at three offshore platforms in the South Pars gas field after war-related disruptions to onshore processing capacity, said the head of Pars Oil and Gas Company.

Touraj Dehghani said the platforms themselves were not damaged.

He said output from the three platforms was being routed to other processing plants in the region while repairs continue at damaged facilities, including the Phase 14 refinery.

An explosion was heard near Iran’s Qeshm Island on Sunday, semi-official Mehr News reported on Sunday.

Iranian state TV said later that sounds heard in Qeshm and Bandar Abbas were caused by the disposal of munitions left over from the war.

Municipal workers and Social Security retirees held protests in Shush, in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province, on Sunday over unpaid wages and worsening living conditions.

Municipal workers said they were owed two months of wages and several months of insurance contributions, while retirees protested poverty, inflation, low pensions and lack of medical and welfare services.

The protests took place amid intense heat in Khuzestan.
