Iran police chief says 6,500 arrested since start of war

Iran’s police chief Ahmadreza Radan said security forces had arrested 6,500 people since the start of the war with the United States and Israel on Feb. 28.

Radan described those detained as “traitors” and “spies.”

He added that arrests tied to the nationwide January protests were still ongoing.

Iran poses a clear threat to global security and regional stability, Al Arabiya reported, citing a CENTCOM spokesperson as saying on Sunday.

The spokesperson accused Iran of carrying out deliberate attacks against civilians in the region and said Tehran had launched missiles from densely populated areas during the war, according to the report.

The spokesperson added that US operations against Iran had been “highly effective” and that CENTCOM was enforcing a blockade over Iran’s use of Hormuz “as a weapon to threaten freedom of navigation.”

Trump said he hoped the new proposal would be better than the last offer Tehran submitted several days ago, according to Axios.

Trump declined to give a specific deadline for negotiations with Iran, the report said.

Khamenei's IRGC representative says diplomatic talks have leadership's approval

Mojtaba Khamenei’s representative at the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said diplomatic talks were proceeding under official supervision and with the supreme leader’s approval.

“Our negotiations are moving forward under the supervision of officials and with the approval of the leadership,” Abdollah Haji Sadeghi said.

“Sacred unity is more important than anything,” he added.

“We have a courageous, insightful, wise and commanding leader who guides the people beautifully,” Haji Sadeghi said.

Iran’s pop diva Googoosh dedicates Ellis Island honor to Iranians

Sanctioned tankers slipped past US Navy Iran blockade - Tanker Trackers

Three empty US-sanctioned tankers slipped through the US Navy blockade line on Iran and entered the perimeter in recent days, maritime intelligence company Tanker Trackers said on Sunday.

“Together, they can lift 1.9 million barrels of Iranian oil,” the company said.

TankerTrackers said one vessel briefly turned off AIS, another was Russian-flagged and a third hugged the Omani coastline.
