Iran Nobel laureate transferred to Tehran hospital

Iranian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi has been transferred to Tehran’s Pars Hospital after 10 days of hospitalization in Zanjan, following a suspension of her sentence on bail, the Narges Foundation said on Sunday.

“Today, Narges Mohammadi was discharged from Zanjan Hospital following an order halting her sentence for medical treatment,” the Narges Foundation quoted her lawyer Mostafa Nili as saying.

“She was transferred by ambulance to Pars Hospital in Tehran, where she has been admitted, Nili added.

The order was issued after Iran’s Legal Medicine Organization assessed that Mohammadi needed specialized care outside prison under the supervision of her own medical team because of multiple illnesses, according to her lawyer.

The Narges Foundation and her family said the suspension was not enough and called for Mohammadi’s unconditional freedom and the dismissal of all charges.

“Now is the time to demand her unconditional freedom and the dismissal of all charges,” the foundation and her family said in a statement.
