UNSC adopts Bahrain-led resolution condemning Iran attacks on regional countries

Mar 11, 2026, 19:28 GMT+0Updated: 22:40 GMT+0

The UN Security Council has adopted a Bahrain-led resolution on the escalating crisis in the Middle East that condemns attacks by Iran against several regional countries and demands an immediate halt.

The resolution was adopted with 13 votes in favor and two abstentions from China and Russia.

The text condemns “in the strongest terms the egregious attacks” by Iran against Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, adding that such acts constitute a breach of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security.

It also demands the “immediate cessation” of all attacks by Iran against those countries.

Bahrain’s representative said the UN Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2817 (2026) reflects the “collective conscience” of the international community after 135 member states co-sponsored the text presented by Bahrain on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
