Special forces take over Evin Prison, political prisoner’s wife says

Mar 2, 2026, 15:47 GMT+0

Tehran's Evin prison is now under the control of special police forces after prison officials left the facility, the wife of political prisoner Mostafa Mohammadhasan said on Monday.

“The situation at Evin Prison is very bad. The prison is now in the hands of NOPO forces. They have completely closed the gates and all prison officials have left. Obtaining food has become very difficult and there is no (prison) shop anymore,” she said in a post on X.
