Tehran condemns new US sanctions on ICC, Iran's shadow banking network
Iran's foreign ministry spokesman in separate statements on Saturday condemned the latest US sanctions against Tehran's shadow banking system as well as the officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"The new US sanctions against Iran, imposed as part of the inhumane and failed policy of maximum pressure against the Iranian people, are not only illegal and in violation of international legal principles and norms, but also serve as further evidence of the deep and ongoing hostility of the ruling regime in the United States toward the Iranian nation," Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said.
He said the sanctions are "designed and implemented with the aim of increasing pressure on every Iranian citizen and depriving them of their fundamental human rights."
"They will only strengthen the Iranian people’s resolve to defend their legitimate rights and interests against US aggression."

Also in a post on his X account, Baghaei condemned the United States for imposing sanctions on officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC), calling it a new low even for what he described as a system addicted to coercion and intimidation.
The spokesman accused Washington of targeting ICC judges and personnel simply for fulfilling their judicial duties, adding that the move is consistent with Washington’s long-standing pattern of shielding Israel from accountability.
