Iran-Backed Hezbollah Fires 55 Rockets at Israel in One Hour

More than 55 rockets have been fired from Lebanon to Israel over the past hour, according to the Israeli military's spokesperson.

This comes after about 40 rockets were fired at Israel from southern Lebanon on Friday, the Israel Defense Forces said.

Iran-backed Hezbollah militants said they had fired the rockets at Israeli artillery positions in response to recent Israeli attacks and in support of Palestinian people in Gaza.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called Iran's attacks on Israel a "serious escalation" that can have "devastating region-wide" consequences.

“I have repeatedly stressed that neither the region nor the world can afford another war,” Guterres said in a statement.



Israel Army: One Base Sustained Minor Damage

Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari has confirmed that "a small number of Iranian missiles" have hit Israel, causing "minor damage" to a military base but no casualties.

Hagari said the "vast majority" of drones and missiles headed for Israel have been downed, either by Israelis or "partners".


Canada Condemns Iran’s Attack On Israel

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has issued a statement in support of Israel, condemning Iran's attacks “unequivocally".

"The Iranian regime’s latest actions will further destabilize the region and make lasting peace more difficult,” Trudeau said.

German foreign minister Annalena Baerbock also condemned Iran'a attacks “in the strongest possible terms."

“Iran and its proxies must stop it immediately,” Baerbock wrote in a post on X.
