EU agency says airlines should avoid Iran airspace despite US-Iran deal

An Iranian lawmaker accused Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Wednesday of pursuing negotiations with the United States against Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s stated red lines.

“He is conducting and advancing the negotiations against all the Leader’s red lines,” Kamran Ghazanfari said. “Whatever the Leader has said not to do, he has done the opposite.”

He said Ghalibaf had shut parliament to accept a ceasefire with the United States and Israel and begin talks with Washington without facing obstacles.

He dismissed as “completely false” claims that parliament sessions were suspended by a Supreme National Security Council decision.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf traveled to Baku, Azerbaijan, on Wednesday to attend the 20th meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states.

He said regional conditions had changed since the war and should be viewed differently.

Ghalibaf said the Baku meeting would offer an opportunity to explain developments after the recent conflict.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said a hotline between the United States and Iran was essential to prevent rogue actors from disrupting the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.

He told the FT that the hotline, agreed during talks in Switzerland, was needed to counter disinformation and ensure coordination while mines were cleared from the crucial waterway.

Sheikh Mohammed said Qatar expected to resume normal liquefied natural gas production within “a few weeks,” according to the report.

US President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post on Tuesday a Senate vote on war powers related to Iran had made his job more difficult, but insisted he would still achieve his objectives.

"So, I have Iran on the “ropes,” ready to go down for the fall, willing to give us practically anything, and for the first time in decades, respecting the hell out of the United States and its President, ME, and the U.S. Senate decides to have a poorly timed and meaningless War Powers Act Vote, telling the Number One Sponsor of Terror in the World that the United States doesn’t like what I am doing to them, and I must stop, and by so doing has provided aid and comfort the Enemy," Trump said.

Four Republican Losers voted with the Dumocrats, and Iran asked my people, “what does that all mean?” These Senators have just made my job more difficult, but I will get it done, one way or the other, because I always get it done!" he added.

After Donald Trump said Iran has “a hunger problem” and JD Vance said unfrozen Iranian assets could help “feed the Iranian people,” Iranians pushed back, saying the country’s real crisis is repression, corruption and the fight for freedom, not hunger.

The remarks sparked widespread reactions from Iran International's viewers, many of whom said the country's struggle cannot be reduced to hunger.

"American officials talk about hunger in Iran as if our problem is a lack of food. Everything exists here. Government policies have made food unaffordable. Sending grain won't solve our problems," one viewer told Iran International.
