Iran will not yield to US threats, lawmaker says

A senior Iranian lawmaker said on Sunday that the Islamic Republic would not give in to what he called US bullying and did not attach “any importance” to Washington’s threats.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, deputy head of Iran parliament’s national security committee, said Iran and the “resistance” would be the definite winners of the war.

Hormuz traffic nearly halted - Bloomberg

Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has come to a virtual standstill, Bloomberg reported on Sunday.

The Kin A, a very large crude carrier carrying Iraqi crude, appeared to have made an outbound crossing several days ago, according to the report.

The vessel has since left its anchorage at Duqm and is heading toward the Suez Canal, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg.

CENTCOM images show A-10 aircraft in regional deployment

US Central Command released images on Sunday showing US Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft taxiing at a base in its area of responsibility.

“The A-10 is able to deliver close air support when and where it is needed most,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.

Seven OPEC+ countries adjust output by 188,000 bpd

Seven OPEC+ countries agreed to implement a production adjustment of 188,000 barrels per day in June, OPEC said on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman reaffirmed their commitment to supporting oil market stability, OPEC said.

The countries will continue to monitor market conditions and are set to meet again on June 7.

Iran online businesses report sales plunge amid internet curbs

The head of Iran’s online businesses association said on Sunday that internet policy had no clear authority, leaving the digital economy unsure which body to negotiate with.

Reza Olfatnasab said some online businesses had seen sales drop by 40% to 50%, while others had sales near zero.

He also cited layoffs of up to 60% and dissatisfaction among businesses over tiered internet access.

Abdollahzadeh execution followed torture-tainted confession, rights group says

Mehrab Abdollahzadeh, a Kurdish protester from the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, was executed after a deeply unfair trial based on forced confessions obtained under torture, Iran Human Rights said on Sunday.

The Norway-based rights group warned that similar executions of political prisoners could continue in the future.

“An immediate halt to all executions and the suspension of the death penalty must be a central condition in any negotiations with the Islamic Republic,” it added.
