Path to ‘a different Iran’ emerges after Khamenei’s death, EU’s Kallas says
The European Union’s foreign policy chief called Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s killing “a defining moment in Iran’s history,” and said a possible path had opened toward greater freedom for Iranians.
“What comes next is uncertain, but there is now an open path to a different Iran, one that its people may have greater freedom to shape,” Kaja Kallas said on Sunday.
“I’m in contact with partners, including those in the region that bear the brunt of Iran’s military actions, to find practical steps for de-escalation,” she added in a post on X.
