Trump has started a new war for the US with Iran strike, Medvedev says

The widespread presence of US military bases across the region represents not a strength but a point of vulnerability, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said Sunday in a statement following overnight American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

"As we have repeatedly stated, the number, dispersion, and extent of US military bases in the region are not a point of strength, but rather have doubled their vulnerability," the Revolutionary Guards said in a Sunday statement.

Iran’s nuclear capabilities are resilient against foreign attacks, the IRGC added.

“We firmly assert that Iran’s indigenous and peaceful nuclear technology cannot be destroyed by any attack,” the statement said.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called on the Islamic Republic to immediately engage in dialogue with the United States and Israel to prevent further regional escalation, the government said Sunday.

A government spokesperson said Berlin’s aim is to find a diplomatic solution to end the conflict between Iran and Israel and avoid a broader crisis.

Diplomacy remains the sole avenue to resolve the escalating conflict between Iran and its adversaries, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Sunday.

“The negotiating table is the only place to end this crisis,” she said in a statement.

European Council President Antonio Costa called Sunday for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation in the Middle East, warning that civilians would pay the highest price.

“I call on all parties to show restraint and respect for international law and nuclear safety,” Costa wrote on X.

"Diplomacy remains the only way to bring peace and security to the Middle East region. Too many civilians will once again be the victims of a further escalation," he said.

Tehran remained at the negotiating table while Israel and the United States blew up ongoing diplomatic efforts through military action, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Sunday.

“Last week, we were in negotiations with the US when Israel decided to blow up that diplomacy. This week, we held talks with the E3/EU when the US decided to blow up that diplomacy,” Araghchi wrote.

“To Britain and the EU High Rep, it is Iran which must ‘return’ to the table. But how can Iran return to something it never left, let alone blew up?”
