Israel approves plan aiming to trigger civilian exodus from Tehran - Channel 14
Israel has approved a new strike plan designed to prompt a mass civilian exodus from Tehran by targeting sites linked to the Iranian government, the Jewish state's Channel 14 reported Sunday night.
According to the report, the plan was authorized by Defense Minister Israel Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and includes airstrikes on selected targets in the capital as a means of applying pressure on Iranian leadership in response to attacks on Israeli territory.
Channel 14 said the goal is to destabilize the situation in Tehran by encouraging civilians to flee areas near military infrastructure. The IDF has issued its first warning, calling on residents to evacuate parts of the city.
The plan was finalized during a meeting earlier in the day between Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and the General Staff in an underground command bunker, the report added.
