Iran’s parliament to hold emergency session after Israeli strikes

German airline Lufthansa on Friday announced it had suspended all flights to and from Tehran, citing the evolving security situation following Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.

“Lufthansa Group flights to and from Tehran will be suspended until further notice due to the current situation,” the company said in a statement, adding it would also avoid Iranian, Iraqi and Israeli airspace for overflights.

Russia’s Aeroflot also said it had canceled flights between Moscow and Tehran and made adjustments to other routes in the Middle East, while Qatar Airways announced the suspension of flights to and from both Iraq and Iran.

Israel is intercepting Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Syria and Jordan, Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported.

Israir Airlines said on Friday it was evacuating and relocating its aircraft from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport. The move is part of a contingency plan developed in recent days, the company said.

Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, said in a televised interview that Israel should expect a “crushing and severe” response from the armed forces following the deaths of several commanders and scientists in the strikes.

Iran has never initiated a war but will not remain silent in the face of aggression, government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said Friday, following Israeli strikes on Iran.

In a post on X, Mohajerani described the attack as a "cowardly miscalculation" and "a sign of fear of our great nation."

She added: “The calm and vigilance of our people is our national asset. Iran is not comparable to any other country, and its response will be decisive, legitimate, and at the right time.”
