The Security Council requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency's ongoing inspections in Afghanistan, that it monitor Iran's compliance with "the steps required by the IAEA Board"

The UN Security Council issued a statement urging the Taliban to honor its commitment to allowing people to leave Afghanistan freely. The statement did not mention France's proposal to establish a safe zone in Kabul. The resolution passed with 13 votes in favor and two abstentions from Russia and China
