Rubio says US remains in talks with Iran

A surge in US crude oil shipments to Asia is not enough to offset the loss of cargoes caused by the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, according to a Reuters commentary piece published on Tuesday.

Asia imported 63.56 million barrels of US crude in May, a record monthly volume, while Kpler data shows arrivals are expected to rise further in June and July, the report said.

However, at least 10 million barrels per day of oil supply remain unavailable as the conflict involving Iran continues, despite efforts by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to reroute some exports outside the strait, the report said.

British couple Craig and Lindsay Foreman, who are being held in Iran, have lost their appeal against a 10-year prison sentence, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing their family.

The family said the couple were not allowed to attend the appeal hearing and had little information about the proceedings.

The Foremans were sentenced to 10 years in a Tehran prison after Iran charged them with espionage, allegations they deny.

Message exchanges between Iran and the United States aimed at reaching an initial memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington were suspended at least several days, IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency reported on Tuesday, citing an informed source.

Iran’s last message to Washington was "a clear message regarding Lebanon," the source was quoted as saying.

Iran's former supreme leader Ali Khamenei's funeral procession will likely be held toward the end of the current Iranian calendar month of Khordad, which ends on June 21, Tehran municipality's deputy for social and cultural affairs, said on Tuesday.

Mohammad Ali Tavakolizadeh said Iran's Revolutionary Guards are in charge of organizing the funeral ceremony and that discussions were underway about extending preparation time to better organize the event.

He said three days had been allocated for the public to bid farewell to Khamenei's body and that the ceremony in Tehran would last at least 24 hours.

Tavakolizadeh added that Khamenei's body would also be taken in funeral processions in the holy city of Qom and in Mashhad before being buried, in accordance with his will, at the shrine of Imam Reza, the eighth Imam in Shiite Islam.

Exiled Iranian Princess Noor Pahlavi said on Tuesday that her family was fighting for Iranians who have been denied freedom for 47 years.

Speaking at the 2026 Oslo Freedom Forum, she said her father, Prince Reza Pahlavi, and her family seek free elections in Iran.

“My father's goal, and ours as a family, is singular: a transition to free and fair elections in which Iranians decide their future. We are not fighting for a throne, we are fighting for freedom for a people who have been denied it for 47 years,” Princess Noor said.

“There is no neutral handshake,” she told the forum. “You are either standing with 92 million Iranians fighting for freedom, or you are shaking the bloody hands of those murdering them.”
