Hezbollah claims attacks on Israeli forces and northern Israeli towns

Apr 5, 2026, 22:07 GMT+1

Tehran's Lebanese ally Hezbollah says it carried out multiple attacks on Israeli forces and sites along Lebanon's border with Israel.

In a statement, the group said explosive devices were detonated near Israeli troops close to the southern Lebanese town of Shamaa, adding that fighters later fired on what it described as a rescue force arriving at the scene.

There was no immediate comment from Israel's military.

Israel and the United States have finalized a list of strategic targets in Iran to be struck if Tehran fails to meet President Donald Trump’s ultimatum, The Jerusalem Post reported citing two informed sources.

The report says final details were reportedly settled during a meeting last week between IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and US Central Command leaders, where officials discussed roles and mission objectives should the ultimatum expire.

According to the report, Israeli officials are urging Washington to prioritize strikes on Iran’s energy sector and national infrastructure, arguing such attacks could trigger economic collapse and weaken the regime’s grip on power.

Iran’s exiled prince Reza Pahlavi urged commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to step down and stop their “crimes” to allow Iran’s infrastructure to be preserved, amid threats by US President Donald Trump to strike the country’s power plants.

“Allow the country’s infrastructure to be preserved for the Iranian nation,” Pahlavi said in a post on X.

“The corrupt regime of the Islamic Republic is on its way out,” he said.

“Stop your crimes. Step down from power,” he said.

Trump tells ABC war with Iran 'should end in days, not weeks'

Apr 5, 2026, 18:39 GMT+1

US President Donald Trump said the war with Iran should be over “in days, not weeks” and warned of severe consequences if it continues, in an interview with ABC News.

“It should be days, not weeks,” Trump said.

“It should be wrapped up in days because no sane group of people could stand the punishment that's going to rain down on them if it's not,” he added.

Trump also said he does not believe US ground troops are necessary at this stage but did not rule out the possibility.

“I don't think it's necessary but I don't rule anything out,” he said.
