Israeli airstrikes hit SPND building in Tehran - Tasnim

Jun 14, 2025, 23:21 GMT+1Updated: 18:48 GMT+1

Israeli warplanes struck key military sites in Tehran on Saturday night, including the command headquarters of Iran’s Ministry of Defense and the SPND building, according to IRGC-linked Tasnim website.

Iran’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research, known by its Persian acronym SPND, is the direct successor organization to Iran’s pre-2004 nuclear weapons program, also referred to as the Amad Project.

Israel in 2020 assassinated Mohsen Fakhrizadeh who led the SPDN.

Iran International reported last year, citing three independent sources in Iran, that the Islamic Republic was advancing its secret nuclear weapons program by restructuring the SPND.

Iran turns to Oman and Qatar to mediate on US talks - Israel Hayom

Jun 14, 2025, 23:04 GMT+1

Iran has asked Oman and Qatar to mediate between Tehran and Washington with the aim of resuming nuclear negotiations, on the condition that Israeli attacks cease, Israel Hayom reported.

Oman, which previously hosted US-Iran talks, confirmed it is pursuing this track, but the US has shown no urgency in responding, the report said.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi said the latest round of talks, set for Sunday in Muscat, has been canceled.

A senior US diplomat told Israel Hayom that Iran now holds “a significantly weaker position” than before the Israeli strike.

“They either failed to understand or deliberately ignored the president’s warnings,” the diplomat was quoted as saying, accusing Tehran of stalling talks while rapidly advancing its nuclear program.

‘Rise, free yourselves from cruel dictators,’ ex-Israeli PM tells Iranians

Jun 14, 2025, 22:34 GMT+1

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett issued a message to the Iranian people on Saturday, calling on them to seize the moment and rise against the Islamic Republic.

“Your time is now. Free yourselves from your cruel dictators,” he wrote on X.

Bennett said Israel had eliminated Iran’s most senior military leaders and added, “The regime has never been weaker. Never!”

Quoting a Jewish maxim - “If not now, when?” - he urged Iranians to “take their future into their own hands.”

“The people of Israel stand with you,” he said, pledging support from Israel and “the entire free world.”

Bennett warned that failing to act now would mean “decades more tyranny and terror.”

UN nuclear watchdog says no damage seen at Iran’s Fordow or Khondab sites

Jun 14, 2025, 22:07 GMT+1

No damage was observed at Iran’s Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant or the Khondab heavy water reactor, which is still under construction, the UN nuclear watchdog said Saturday.

No further damage has been seen at Natanz since Israeli strikes there on Friday, it added.

Earlier, the agency confirmed that four critical buildings at the Isfahan nuclear site were hit, including a uranium conversion facility and a fuel plate fabrication plant, but reported no change in off-site radiation levels.

“As in Natanz, no increase in off-site radiation expected,” the IAEA said on X.
