Iran football chief lashes out at US after visa denial

Jun 7, 2026, 10:19 GMT+1

Iran football federation chief Mehdi Taj lashed out at the United States on Sunday, after he and senior federation officials were denied visas to enter the country for the World Cup.

“The rulers of America are so hated that no one wants to go to that country, but in the end the World Cup is being held there and the players have to go there,” said the IRGC-linked president of Iran's football federation.
