US Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari said on X on Tuesday she was relieved for 90 million Iranians who feared a nuclear catastrophe, but accused President Donald Trump of threatening genocide and war crimes.

“It’s now day 39 of Trump’s illegal regional war that has had deadly and catastrophic consequences. There has been no clear plan or rationale, no strategy, and no congressional authorization or input as required by the Constitution,” the Democratic lawmaker from Arizona said.

“Whether through impeachment or by invoking the 25th Amendment, it is far past time Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are removed from office,” Ansari added.

Graham urges caution and congressional review on Iran diplomacy

Apr 8, 2026, 02:18 GMT+1

Senator Lindsey Graham said on X on Tuesday that while he prefers diplomacy if it achieves the right outcome with Iran, he is cautious about distinguishing fact from fiction.

"At this early stage, I am extremely cautious regarding what is fact vs. fiction or misrepresentation. That’s why a congressional review process like the one the Senate followed to test the Obama Iranian deal is a sound way forward," Graham said.

"Fair and challenging questions with a full opportunity to explain, and a healthy dose of sunlight is generally the right formula to understand any matter," he added.
