Brent crude surges amid US‑Iran tensions
Brent crude oil prices climbed sharply on Sunday rising more than 8% to around $79.34 per barrel as markets reacted to escalating US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Traders cited fears of supply disruptions through key energy routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, and a broader geopolitical risk premium.
In intraday trading, Brent briefly touched above $82 per barrel before settling near $79. The surge reflects growing concerns over regional instability and its impact on crude flows from the Middle East.
