Meta hides followers and following lists for users based in Iran

Jan 18, 2026, 18:43 GMT+0

Meta has restricted the visibility of followers and following lists on Instagram accounts based in Iran after reports that Iranian security bodies were extracting large volumes of user data.

Following the update, Instagram accounts whose owners’ location is identified as Iran no longer display information about their followers or the accounts they follow.
