President Donald Trump said in his State of the Union address that Iran is pursuing missile and nuclear weapons programs despite past US efforts to stop them.
Trump said the US is still negotiating with Tehran but said he has not heard “the secret words: ‘We will never have a nuclear weapon.'
"As president, I will make peace wherever I can, but I will never hesitate to confront threats to America wherever we must," Trump said.
“They’ve already developed missiles that can threaten Europe and our bases overseas, and they’re working on missiles that could soon reach the United States," Trump said.

President Donald Trump and members of his administration were likely targets of a suspect who opened fire on a security agent guarding the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in Washington, US Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said on Sunday.
The man fired a shotgun at a Secret Service agent at a checkpoint in the Washington Hilton hotel before being subdued and arrested. Trump and first lady Melania Trump were escorted out of the dinner.
“It does appear that he did, in fact, set out to target folks that work in the administration, likely including the president,” Blanche told NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” adding the suspect likely traveled by train from Los Angeles to Chicago and then to Washington.
A senior Iranian lawmaker said the ceasefire was accepted to rebuild military capacity and replenish weapons, remarks aired on state television on Sunday.
Ebrahim Azizi, head of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said the pause in fighting offered “an opportunity to reload and strengthen the armed forces.”
“Some ask whether accepting a ceasefire at this stage was right or not. My answer is that it was necessary to rebuild capabilities and improve our forces,” Azizi said.
A convoy of oil tankers has exited the Persian Gulf and passed through the Strait of Hormuz, according to vessel tracking data on Saturday.
Travel agencies in Iran cannot refund canceled trips during the war because airlines have not returned funds, the national association said on Saturday.
“The bulk of these payments remains with airlines, leaving agencies unable to reimburse passengers,” the association said.
More than 7,500 people have been hospitalized with war-related injuries since fighting with Iran began on February 28, Israel’s Health Ministry said.
A total of 7,527 people have been admitted, with 108 still hospitalized, including two in critical condition and 13 in serious condition.
The figures include both soldiers and civilians, with some injuries occurring indirectly, such as while seeking shelter.
Pakistan will issue visas on arrival to delegates and journalists attending the Islamabad Talks 2026, with airlines asked to allow boarding without prior visas, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday.
“Pakistan welcomes all delegates including journalists from participating nations, traveling in relation to Islamabad Talks 2026,” Dar wrote on X.
“To this end, all airlines are requested to permit boarding to all such individuals without Visa. Immigration authorities in Pakistan will issue them Visa on Arrival,” he added.
An Iranian MP said the Islamic Republic continued negotiations even during an attack on the country and added that defense and security forces remain at the highest level of readiness, remarks he made in recent days.
Nesari, a member of parliament, said on Friday the country’s defense, security and military sectors are at “the highest level of preparedness,” adding that any threat against the Islamic Republic would be met with a response at the same level or stronger.
“The Islamic Republic has never left the negotiating table and was even negotiating when the country came under attack,” he said.

Turkey is reviewing possible actions should tensions between neighboring Iran and the United States escalate into conflict, a Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters.
The source said Ankara was assessing different scenarios to protect its citizens in the event of a “negative development,” but stressed that any move that would breach Iran’s sovereignty was not being considered.
Turkey, which borders Iran and is a member of NATO, has said it opposes military intervention and favors a diplomatic solution. The Turkish presidency’s office for countering disinformation earlier rejected reports that Ankara was preparing to enter Iranian territory to prevent a possible refugee influx.
