Israel mocks Khamenei a month after death

Mar 29, 2026, 06:40 GMT+1

Israel’s foreign ministry mocked Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a social media post marking a month since his death, pointing out that he has yet to be buried.

In a Persian-language post on X, the ministry wrote: “There were negotiations, there was war, you were killed, and you still haven’t been buried,” alongside an image of Khamenei.

Khamenei was killed on February 28, and four weeks later he has not yet been laid to rest.

Air defenses were activated across several Persian Gulf states as Iran launched a new wave of drone and missile attacks, according to official statements and local reports.

Kuwait’s defense ministry said its air defenses were confronting incoming threats, while the National Guard reported shooting down four drones.

The United Arab Emirates said its systems were intercepting missile and drone attacks, and authorities in Dubai said loud sounds heard in the city were caused by air defense activity.

Israel’s military said it had detected a missile launch from Iran, while sirens were activated in Bahrain. Residents also reported hearing explosions in Dubai.

Iran may require regime change, General Kellogg says

Mar 29, 2026, 03:40 GMT+1

Retired US General Keith Kellogg told News Max on Saturday US pressure on Iran may need to go beyond military strikes and move toward forcing regime change.

Kellogg said the administration had already addressed what he described as its first two objectives: reducing Iran’s nuclear capability and weakening its missile threat.

Kellogg said economic pressure could play a role, but argued that limited use of ground forces against strategic targets would be the most likely way to produce lasting change, without a full-scale invasion.

“You can do that economically. You can do it with limited use of ground forces… But you can take out a couple of key strategic targets,” he said.

Iran war could last weeks, limited ground operations possible - NewsMax

Mar 29, 2026, 02:28 GMT+1

Former Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie said on Saturday US military operations against Iran could continue for weeks, with airstrikes taking the lead and limited ground forces targeting strategic sites in the Persian Gulf.

Speaking on Newsmax’s “The Count,” Wilkie said the air campaign could last “at least another month,” citing Iran’s size and dispersed military infrastructure. He added that US Marines and paratroopers might secure key locations such as Kharg Island to disrupt Iran’s economy and control strategic waterways.
