Coinciding with the birthday of Pouya Bakhtiari, the young man killed in the November 1998 nationwide protests, social media users congratulated him on his birthday. Masih Alinejad, two journalists, also reported on his Instagram that security agencies had "threatened" Bakhtiari's family not to be present at his burial site.
